Transparent Corrugated Plastic Sheet Overview
Before any specification talk: this page is about twin-wall corrugated plastic sheet in the packaging, protection and display family — the Coroplast / Correx / Corflute type of product, normally PP or PE. Corrugated polycarbonate roofing sheet is a different product with a different buying path, and we compare the two further down so you do not order the wrong material.
What Is a Corrugated Plastic Sheet?
A corrugated (twin-wall, fluted) plastic sheet has two flat outer skins connected by a row of internal ribs. The flutes run the length of the sheet. This cross-section is what separates it from solid sheet: the panel gets stiffness from the rib structure while staying light, because the middle is mostly air.
Clear vs Transparent vs Translucent
These words are not interchangeable, and buyers mix them up more than they should. Clear sheet lets you see through it with little distortion. Transparent is a broader term for light passing through. Translucent lets light through but scatters it, so you cannot see a sharp image behind the panel. Corrugated PP is usually translucent rather than optically clear — the polymer and the flute walls both scatter light. If a project needs optical clarity, that decision belongs to a different material conversation.
Transparent Corrugated Plastic Sheet Specifications
Numbers on this page are confirmed against a real material grade, test method and application. We removed the old data table without a source and we will not publish guessed values for a sheet we have not reviewed.

How the Corrugated Structure Works
The corrugated cross-section is the whole point of the product. Once you see it, most material decisions become obvious.
The internal ribs increase panel stiffness without making the sheet solid. That is the trade that matters: you get a panel that stands up in use, stays light enough to ship and handle, and uses less polymer than a solid sheet of equivalent rigidity. Flute spacing and profile can be adjusted, and they change how the sheet behaves under load and in folding — which is why the flute structure is part of the specification, not a decoration.
Why Use Corrugated Plastic Instead of a Solid Sheet?
| Factor | Corrugated Sheet | Solid Sheet |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Lower | Higher |
| Rigidity-to-weight | Strong | Depends on thickness |
| Material use | Lower for many designs | Higher |
| Handling | Easy | Can be heavier |
| Fabrication | Easy to cut and fold depending on structure | More processing |
| Packaging | Good | Application dependent |
Material Options for Transparent Corrugated Sheets
We list the materials we actually supply. If a material is not on this list, we do not pretend it is.
| Material | Typical Advantage | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|
| PP | Lightweight, moisture resistant, recyclable | Packaging, partitions, protection |
| PE | Impact resistance, flexibility | Protection, industrial applications |
| PVC* | Rigidity / specific performance | Application dependent |
| Polycarbonate* | Impact strength, light transmission | Roofing / glazing — separate product |
* PVC and polycarbonate are only offered where your project actually requires them. They are not interchangeable with PP / PE hollow sheet, and we will say so in the quote.
How to Choose the Right Material
Start with the requirement, not with the polymer name. This table maps the requirement to the material to consider — the final call still needs the application details.
| Requirement | Material to Consider |
|---|---|
| Low weight | PP |
| Moisture resistance | PP / PE |
| Impact resistance | PE / specific grades |
| Rigidity | Depends on structure / material |
| Outdoor exposure | UV-stabilized grade |
| Printing | Corona-treated surface |
| Anti-static | ESD grade |
| Flame retardancy | FR grade |
| High optical clarity / roofing | Consider polycarbonate where applicable |
How to Choose Corrugated Plastic Sheet Thickness
There is no universal thickness rule like "2 mm means signage, 6 mm means packaging". Thickness follows the load, the sheet size, the flute structure and the application.
| Application | Main Selection Factor |
|---|---|
| Signage | Appearance / rigidity / printing |
| Packaging | Weight / stiffness / handling |
| Dividers | Impact / stiffness |
| Protection | Impact / durability |
| Greenhouse / glazing | Material + UV + transparency + structural requirement |

Corrugated PP vs Corrugated Polycarbonate: Which Should You Choose?
These two products share the word "corrugated" and little else. The comparison below is not about which is better. It is about which product your project actually needs.
| Factor | Corrugated PP | Corrugated PC |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | Lightweight | Lightweight |
| Impact | Good | Higher |
| Transparency | Clear / translucent depending on grade | High |
| Structural glazing | Limited / application dependent | Strong candidate |

| Cost | Generally lower | Generally higher |
How Custom Corrugated Plastic Sheets Are Manufactured
Each step controls something specific. That is the difference between a production line and a description.
Quality Control for Transparent Corrugated Plastic Sheets
The QC plan follows the specification. If we cannot test it, we do not claim it.
* Functional-grade tests are run only where the order specifies them, using the agreed method and acceptance criteria.
Packaging for Corrugated Plastic Sheets
Sheets travel flat, and they travel better when the edges and surfaces are protected. The exact packing follows the order, but the starting point is consistent:
Protective Film
Surface protection where the finish must arrive clean.*
Flat Stacking
Sheets stacked flat to avoid warping in transit.
Edge Protection
Corners and edges guarded against impact damage.
Pallet + Moisture Protection
Palletized loads with moisture protection for export shipping.*

Frequently Asked Questions
What is transparent corrugated plastic sheet?
It is a lightweight sheet with two outer skins connected by internal ribs (flutes). The structure gives the panel stiffness without a solid cross-section. Common materials are polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE); polycarbonate is a separate product used mainly for roofing and glazing.
What is the difference between corrugated PP and solid PP sheet?
Corrugated (twin-wall) PP uses internal flutes, so it is lighter and stiffer per unit weight than a solid sheet of the same thickness. Solid PP sheet is heavier, has no flute structure, and behaves differently under load and in fabrication.
Is clear corrugated plastic really transparent?
It depends on grade and structure. 'Clear', 'transparent' and 'translucent' are different levels of light transmission. Corrugated PP is usually translucent rather than optically clear; the flutes and the polymer itself scatter light. If you need optical clarity, confirm the material and grade before quoting.
What thicknesses are available?
The available range depends on the material and flute profile, and is confirmed against the application. Thickness is selected from stiffness, load, handling and the dimensions of the sheet.
Can transparent corrugated plastic sheets be custom cut?
Yes. Sheets can be cut to custom width and length, and fabricated into panels or components with scoring, folding, punching and die cutting depending on the material and profile.
Can you print logos or graphics on the sheet?
Printing is available as an option depending on the material and surface treatment. Confirm the printing method and ink-adhesion requirement with our team before production.
Can corrugated plastic sheets be folded or fabricated?
Yes. Scoring allows clean folds, and fabricated parts such as dividers, boxes, covers and protective panels can be produced from the raw sheet.
Is PP corrugated sheet suitable for outdoor use?
It can be used outdoors in many applications, but long-term outdoor exposure usually calls for a UV-stabilized grade. Confirm the exposure, expected service life and performance requirement with our team.
Do I need UV stabilization?
If the sheet will face sustained sunlight, a UV-stabilized grade is normally recommended. The need depends on the application, expected lifetime and whether appearance or mechanical retention matters more.
Is corrugated PP suitable for greenhouse roofing?
For structural glazing and long-term roofing, corrugated polycarbonate is the product normally used. Corrugated PP has different light transmission, weathering and structural behavior, so we do not recommend treating the two as interchangeable.
What is the difference between PP and polycarbonate corrugated sheets?
PP corrugated sheet is lightweight, low-cost and widely used for packaging, protection, partitions and signage. Polycarbonate corrugated sheet offers higher impact strength and better optical clarity, and is the usual choice for roofing and glazing. They serve different product markets.
Can you provide custom sheet dimensions?
Yes. Custom width and length are available, and thickness and flute profile can be reviewed against the application.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Send the application, sheet width, sheet length, thickness, material preference, transparency requirement, annual or order quantity, outdoor exposure and UV requirement, printing, and any cutting or fabrication needs.
