Protective Packaging Plastic Parts for OEM Components
Injection-molded caps, plugs, end protectors, inserts, separators and reusable dunnage that protect machined and assembled parts through transit and storage. Send your drawing and we review it for manufacturability, material and tooling before quoting.
At a Glance
If you need protective caps, plugs, end protectors, inserts or separators for OEM parts, the practical path is to send the 2D/3D drawing, the material or target, the part it protects and the estimated volume. We review the geometry for moldability — wall thickness, undercuts, snap fit, draft — plan or source the tool, mold trial samples, inspect them against the drawing, then run production. Fit, material and compliance are confirmed per your project, not assumed.
Parts We Manufacture
We quote and mold to your drawing rather than to a fixed catalogue of packaging. The categories below are how buyers usually search and specify parts; each carries different fit, retention and cosmetic requirements that we confirm against the drawing.
Threaded Caps & Plugs
Sized to protect external threads, ports and bore entry from impact, dirt and transit damage; available with or without a retaining tether design.
End Protectors & Tube Caps
Closed caps and sleeves that cover rod, tube and profile ends, preventing denting, scratching and contamination at the exposed face.
Flange & Fitting Covers
Covers that shield mating faces, seals and connectors so a finished component arrives assembly-ready.
Inserts & Dividers
Tray and box inserts that compartment a carton so each part sits in a fixed pocket instead of rattling loose.
Separators & Spacers
Locating parts that keep finished surfaces apart and prevent the contact marks that loose packing causes.
Retainers & Clips
Keyed or colour-coded retainers that hold a part in a kit or tray and reduce mix-ups at the assembly line.
Problems We Solve
Most protective-packaging failures are not solved by "more bubble wrap"; they are solved by a part shaped to the component. Each row is a problem we design against, not a slogan.
Applications by Industry
Different industries stress different things. We state the engineering focus for each so you can judge fit before sending a drawing. For the broader scope of build-to-print molded parts, see our OEM custom injection molding plastic parts page.
Machined Components
CNC shafts, bushings, fittings and flanges. Focus: protecting threads, bores and machined faces so a finished part arrives assembly-ready.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics
Ports, fittings and valves. Focus: sealing open passages from dirt and impact during transit and storage.
Electronics & Connectors
Connector housings, pins and contacts. Focus: a snug, low-particle cover that does not deform the contact.
Automotive & Tier Suppliers
Kits and sub-assemblies. Focus: locating and identifying parts in a tray, and protecting mating faces.
Material Selection
The resin is chosen against the thread size, service temperature, chemical exposure, required flexibility and any food or medical contact rule — not by a fixed "this material = this certificate" rule. For a decision-oriented reference, see our materials page.
| Material | Common consideration | What the buyer must confirm |
|---|---|---|
| PE / LDPE / HDPE | Low-cost, flexible caps and plugs; broad chemical resistance | Durometer, wall, smell and any food-contact rule |
| PP | Stiffer, heat-capable; hinged or reusable parts | Shrink and warp, service temperature, clarity |
| PVC (rigid / flex) | Flexible sleeves and clear covers | Regulation profile, plasticizer, end-market rules |
| TPE / TPU | Soft-touch, snug, reusable fit | Bond to substrate, hardness, service life |
| ABS | Rigid, paintable, structural retainers | Impact, gloss, dimensional stability |
| PA (Nylon) | Wear, load and chemical resistance | Moisture uptake, stiffness, fibre direction |
| PC | Clear, impact-resistant covers | Stress-crack risk, clarity, compatibility |
DFM, Tooling & Manufacturing
Most protective-part problems are decided before the tool is cut. Each row below is an engineering judgment we apply, not a slogan about precision.
| Engineering question | What we address |
|---|---|
| Undercuts & snap fit | Where the cap must grip the thread or boss, and how it releases without tearing. |
| Draft & ejection | Where draft is needed so the part releases cleanly from the tool without scuffing. |
| Wall thickness & sink | Balance a wall thick enough to protect yet thin enough to mold without sink. |
| Bore & thread protection | Geometry that seals the opening without deforming the protected feature. |
| Colour coding & keying | Design the orientation or identification into the tool, confirmed on a limit sample. |
| Fit to the protected part | Which dimensions to control on the drawing versus leave to the molding process. |
Tooling is planned from geometry, resin, expected life and volume — see our custom plastic injection mold page for the tooling scope.
Manufacturing, Inspection & Delivery
The same five steps apply whether the part is a cap, an insert or a reusable tray. We inspect against the drawing and the agreed limit sample rather than against adjectives.
RFQ & DFM Review
Receive 2D/3D drawing, material, the part protected and estimated volume; flag moldability and fit risks.
Tooling Planning
Assess mold structure, material, cavity count and cost from geometry, resin and volume target.
Trial Samples & Review
Mold trial parts; verify fit, critical dimensions and appearance, with agreed tool modifications.
Production Release
After sample acceptance, run volume production to the approved material, process and inspection plan.
Inspection & Delivery
Final inspection, packing and delivery per order, with the agreed quality documents.
Injection Molding vs Other Methods
We manufacture by injection molding (and by 3D printing for prototypes). Thermoforming, foam and corrugated paper are shown here for comparison only — they are not necessarily processes we run, and for a given program we can advise whether we mold the part or you source the rest. The point is to pick the method by the part, not by habit.
| Method | Best for | Limit — when injection wins |
|---|---|---|
| Injection molding | Repeatable, precise, branded caps / inserts at volume | Tooling cost upfront; below a volume it is hard to justify |
| Thermoforming | Large, thin, formed shells and trays | Lower precision and surface detail than a molded part |
| Foam (PU / EPE) | Cushioning irregular, fragile shapes | Not form-fitting to a thread; particle and recyclability concerns |
| Corrugated / paper | Low-cost one-way transit | No locate or retain; poor protection for threads and bores |
| 3D printing | Prototypes and very low quantities | Slower and costlier than molding once volume rises (we offer this for prototypes) |
Procurement, Compliance & Sustainability
For EU and US buyers the real questions are recyclability, documentation and test support — not a wall of certificate names. We state which grade and which evidence apply to your part, rather than claiming all parts comply.
PPWR Consideration
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation applies from 12 August 2026. We discuss recyclability, recycled-content options and reusable designs per project — not a blanket "compliant" label.
ISTA 3A / 3B
Distribution simulation standards. We design protective parts to support your ISTA validation; the shipment certification is confirmed by the shipper or test lab, not by us.
Material & Inspection
Resin maker, grade, data sheet and any declaration supplied per project; critical dimensions checked against the drawing with reports as agreed.
ISO 9001:2015
Xiamen Goldcattle Plastic & Metal Products Co., Ltd. is certified to ISO 9001:2015; the certificate is available on request.

What to send for a protective parts quote
Required fields let us scope the project; optional fields sharpen the estimate.
Note: drawings are handled under NDA on request. We respond with a manufacturability review and a project-specific quotation — not a generic price list.
