Machine capability ≠ production capability

A supplier that says “we have 50 CNC machines” has not proven it can produce your part consistently. Also verify machine utilization, available capacity, operators, programming ability, fixture capability, QC capacity and production scheduling. Recent supplier-verification guidance is explicit: actual remaining capacity matters more than a machine count for whether a supplier can meet your delivery date.

4. Verify Certifications

Do not just ask “do you have ISO 9001?” Verify four things independently:

5. Verify the Quality System

7. Verify Material Traceability

Require a material certificate and check: alloy, grade, temper, heat/lot number, supplier, date and quantity. Then ask the decisive question — can the material certificate be linked to the production batch?

This moves the check from “do you have a certificate?” to traceability: raw material → heat number → your part → your shipment. It is what prevents the wrong alloy from entering a dimensionally perfect part.

8. Verify Outsourced Processes

Outsourcing a process is normal — heat treatment, plating and anodizing are frequently subcontracted even by capable manufacturers. The risk is not outsourcing itself; it is failing to disclose it and failing to control it.

9. Check Commercial & Payment Details

Beyond the factory, reconcile the entities behind the money:
